You know your cousin who’s a few years older than you, and lets you drink beer and play video games in his room, and likes to make faces at the dinner table, and some of your friends kinda have a li’l crush on him, and he’s always introducing you to old punk and garage and alternative records, but he’s got this great gospel voice in church, and DJs all of the classics at the family reunion, and so he writes songs and plays dirty guitar and sings his heart out in a Washington DC band that’s hard rock and roll with soul?
Well, rex is like that…
Some funky energy…a helping of rock and jam intensity…shake on some soul and jazz. That’s the flavor of Moonliscious. Featuring a sound that has been described as “The Funky Meters meets Steely Dan,” with a little bit of DC go-go swing, the 5-piece has been moving both brains and backsides from the ocean shores to the West Virginia mountains, from the Philly streets to the Virginia countryside.
